Best Massage Chair Review (2024) | ONLY TOP 5 Brands & Models [Why?]

my picture
My experience with massage chairs

According to the American Psychological Association, 77% of people regularly experience stress-induced physical symptoms.

On top of that…

And 73% of all psychological symptoms are caused by stress.

There are many ways to relieve stress: from yoga to weight training from meditation to a professional massage.

Also, you can use a shiatsu massage chair 🙂

I do…

I think you’ll agree with me when I say that it is hard to navigate when you have a few hundred similar models (that are only from Top Brands) that are available for purchase in the USA alone!

To Save You Some Time:

. is The. You Can Buy. It is the Only Chair that is Developed, Researched, and Assembled in the USA with The Best Warranty In The Industry.

The best part:

A few years ago This Model helped me with my back issues and I set out to write this buying guide, to hopefully help you with your pain issues or you can use it simply for fun, pleasure, and relaxation to feel almost instant pain relief, stress relief & relaxation effect.

Most good massage chairs are pricey.

Some massaging chair models cost a fortune but will not do any good for you or your wallet (bad design/reliability issue / terrible customer service).

For example, take THIS MODEL (DO NOT BUY) it is expensive & price is not justified (not enough options for the price/ no user feedback / can’t reach their customer service, you name it)

I came across (tried out) close a 50 models, and only five have made the cut in this review buying guide.

Keep on reading to find out which are the best rated massage chair models (in it’s own price category) as of 2023 / 2024 (or take a look at the table below for a quick overview)

#1 Luraco Technologies iRobotics 7

Luraco Technologies iRobotics 7

Now replaced with I7 Plus Model!

Now, there’s every reason why this model sits at the very top of this list.

It is an all-rounder model when it comes to features. Also, it is the quietest chair available. Period!

If you are someone who suffers the consequences of being stuck in one position all day long, the iRobotics 7 provides a range of shiatsu massages with varying intensity levels that you can easily control.

This electric shiatsu massager provides the largest number of adjustments in any massage chair.

A full body scan uses the roller tracks can locate and address each problem area individually.

Now, let’s take a quick look at some of its unique characteristics.

Product Features

  • This is a highly adjustable model with a large number of adjustment settings. It patterns and molds itself to the frame of the person to provide outstanding massage experiences.
  • This model easily accommodates heights up to 6’7” and a maximum weight of 300 pounds
  • It is assembled in the US and is FDA, and UL-approved, and certified.
  • It also offers a unique side-to-side motion to relieve stiff muscles
  • One of the best warranty periods (5 years on parts and 3 years on labor)
  • Intensive neck and shoulders rub and also thorough feet massages with foot rollers (beat every single chair I tried when it comes to a neck massage ).
  • Noise cancellation and reduction technology (you will be surprised by how quiet it is).
  • It comes with an inbuilt music player and speakers (Bluetooth) .

Here is Some More Information to read …

Benefits of the Luraco I7 Recliner

This reclining chair has the highest number of airbags that provide a thorough air massage.

Once the scan is done, you can select any massage from the pre-programmed massage settings or can even customize your own using the different modes.

It is one of the most luxurious & the best massage chairs that has an inbuilt music player and speakers that let you listen to your favorite tracks.

It is also the quietest one among all the reviewed models that wouldn’t irk you with unnecessary noise coming from its air pump and motors.

The heat therapy provided by Luraco works efficiently towards treating stiff muscle problems, while the massages offered by the feet rollers relieve every tensed and tired muscle in the legs.

The Luraco Technologies iRobotics 7 (Upgraded to 7 Plus Model now) is the only model that is assembled in the USA with US-based customer and after-sales support. Chair Provides one of the top zero-gravity massage experiences.

UL and FDA have acknowledged and approved this model as a medical massage chair.

Luraco also offers a warranty of 5 years on parts and 3 years on labor, which is undoubtedly a huge coverage and is pretty beneficial for the kind of investment.

It is one of the top-rated massage chairs you can buy in 2022 / 2023 (It is Overall Best)

What Have ĐĄould Been Better?

  • It is a reasonably priced recliner for a feature set but could be pricey for some.
  • Space-consuming (not a space saver)
  • The Body Scan technology can take a while to finish. However, you can fasten up the process through programming (which seems to be resolved with I7 Plus upgrade)
  • If you activate the voice control feature, it will give you a full-blown account of each stage that you go through. This can be a little annoying to some.

.

#2 Human Touch Novo XT

HT Novo XT massage chairs reviews

Now replaced with Novo XT2 chair Model!

While the iRobotics 7 is rather undisputed in the realm of the Top Rated massage chairs, you got to look at the next one that I have on this list for you.

The Human Touch Novo XT chair is another great massage recliner that is space-efficient and has a wall hanger, perfect for smaller apartments and limited spaces.

You can easily place it a couple of inches from the wall and recline it smoothly.

The NovoXT measures were seven inches less than the Luraco model in width and ten inches less in length.

Space efficiency is something that this model scores on more than most others.

Compared to the iRobotics 7 chair, which has an all-spine, seat, and feet heating facility; the NovoXT does lack a little in functionality providing heat only to the lumbar area.

But, it comes with adjustable features for neck and shoulder massages with separate ones for your back and feet. It also offers zero-gravity massages along with a full-body stretch.

The warranty period for this model is 5 years on labor which gives two extra years more than what the Luraco recliner chair offers.

Pros

  • It’s a compact model that saves a lot of space
  • Although it is quite high up in the price range, it costs less than the iRobotics 7
  • It accommodates a height of up to 6’9” and a maximum weight of 300 pounds
  • It has innovative and interesting special features like rocking and full immersion and 30 different features
  • It offers a 5 years warranty period on labor
  • LCD Remote Control

Cons

  • Although it’s lower in price than the first two massage chairs, it is quite expensive still
  • It does not have a wide range of adjustment settings as other chair massagers
  • Heat therapy in this model is limited to only the lumbar region.

.

#3 Infinity IT-8500

Infinity IT-8500 Massage Chair

Looking for a great zero-gravity model but not willing to spend too much money?

The Infinity IT-8500 is luxurious that will perform on the level of the Luraco, but with a more attractive price sticker.

The difference in the features is that you get 2D rollers instead of 3D ones (you can have 3D rollers in the IT-8500 3X model).

Other than this, you get almost everything that should be there in any quality recliner.

Heat features, computerized body scanning technology, neck and hand massages, foot rollers (foot massage), and several others.

You pretty much bag all of it at a very reasonable price.

Although the higher-priced models are better at providing quality massages, the IT-8500 chair does pretty well in its own league.

It employs a big portion of the technology used by the Infinity Iyashi chair, but, does the job at a better price.

Pros

  • Compared to the other expensive full-body models, this one does offer a fair amount of features at a fair deal
  • Way lesser in price than the top full-body shiatsu massage chairs
  • The foot roller provides a standard foot massage
  • Provides heat massages, body scan technology features, and deep tissue massage
  • Comes with audio speakers

Cons

  • It can still be an expensive buy
  • The heating therapy is restricted to the lumbar region
  • This model has an S-track instead of an L-track.

.

#4 Kahuna LM-6800

Kahuna LM6800

The World’s Best Massage Chairs aren’t budget-friendly for most people. But there are definitely a few that are next only to the best chair models!

If you’re looking for a massage chair that offers you a wide range of features like the top ones, then the Kahuna LM-6800 might just be the one for you.

It is a space-saving massage recliner that takes up only 5 inches of space from the wall. It is also one of the popular recliners for Amazon in this price category.

It is a reasonably priced model that is almost 4 times lesser in cost than the iRobotics chair or Novo-XT chair.

The company manages the price by focusing mainly on the back massages, without adding numerous additional features. This Kahuna recliner model offers an L-track design with special features such as four 2D rollers that massages your lower body down to your glutes.

The chair provides a thorough foot massage with double foot rollers.  The Yoga Body Stretch facility stretches the front portion of your body, the spine, and the hamstrings.

Also, the chair offers a vibratory function in its seat for instant stress relief.  The heat therapy is concentrated in the lumbar region and calf muscles which calms these muscles and improves circulation. Another popular model for the same company is Kahuna’s superior (SM-7300).

It is the best chair in the under $2500 category.

Pros

  • It has 36 airbags with 3 levels of adjustable intensity.
  • It offers a full-body computerized scan to help the rollers and chair massager locate the problem points and areas.
  • The zero-gravity feature offers three ZG positions for a “floating” sensation.
  • Employs effective noise reduction technology.
  • Yoga-Stretching is designed to stretch the entire body

Cons

  • The fabric in the feet roller section may be too thin for the strength of the massages.
  • There can be a problem for people taller than 6’ to fit in the massage chair.

.

#5 Osaki OS-4000 Zero Gravity

Osaki OS-4000 Zero Gravity Heated Reclining Chair

The Osaki massage chairs are a well-built and well-designed lineup of massage chairs that offer a range of attractive options.

This is a well-known brand, but most Osaki chairs are made in China (under the quality control of Osaki / Titan Brand). These are popular for being the most featured chairs among the best zero gravity massage chairs in their category.

Now, you cannot draw a comparison between this model and the top ones when it comes to the kind of options that are available in this, for obvious reasons.

This is the lowest in price of all the others before it.

The feature range is limited. But, it does provide some really good ones that can even be found in the high-end massage chairs

The Osaki OS-4000 full body zero gravity shiatsu recliner provides a full body shiatsu massage. You can easily use it for general aches and pains in the body.

It also gives a vibration massage that relaxes your muscles and puts the body at rest, improving blood circulation throughout the body.

Pros

  • The chair has the zero gravity feature
  • It offers vibration massages
  • The chair provides a full-body shiatsu massage
  • Space-saving technology
  • This is an OS-4000 that has a considerably affordable price than previous massage chairs on this list.
  • It also offers you a few styles and massage programs to choose from
  • Convenient Remote Control

Cons

  • It has limited manual options.
  • It does not have rollers or other massaging provisions for the feet.
  • Heat is limited to the lumbar region.

.

Few More Chairs Worth Mentioning

I’ve also reviewed a few more massage chairs that I thought were worth mentioning.

This is because these massage chairs were able to make a place for themselves with their special features even among the top-rated ones. Let’s take a quick look at them.

#6 Inada DreamWave (formerly Inada Sogno DreamWave)

Inada DreamWave Shiatshu -one of the 10 best massage chairs of 2018

The Inada DreamWave massage chair is another Japanese massage chair that was introduced in 2007 as the Inada Sogno DreamWave.

The model received a few minor software updates in 2012 and was renamed Inada DreamWave.

This model is designed and assembled in Japan, but it uses some parts that are manufactured in China. It is still a reliable model.

The regular options for this massage chair include a 3D quad roller massage system which also allows you to adjust its speed almost similar to 4D rollers.

It has a unique airbag massage system that works on your shoulders.

This is made by a special shoulder unit and is not generally found on other therapeutic massage chairs.

It also offers foot rollers, a body stretch feature, and heat massage therapy concentrated in the seat and lumbar region.

One of the fascinating features of this massage chair is the DreamWave function.

On activation, it vibrates and rocks the seat from side to side in an 8-shaped motion known to relax the body.

The Youth massage Program has allowed children over 14 years of age to use this feature.

This is also the second quietest model next to the iRobotics 7 chairs when it comes to noise reduction.

Pros

  • It has got an almost 4D roller system.
  • The DreamWave function is absolutely exclusive and unique to this massage chair.
  • It is known to have an excellent noise reduction protocol.
  • This massage chair consists of 100 airbags for providing a quality full-body chair massage and provides total coverage of 1200 square inches.

Cons

  • Apart from being technically updated and renamed back in 2012, it has not changed much in its design or features.
  • This is a really expensive massage chair; even costlier than all the previously reviewed massage chairs

.

#7 Osaki OS-4D JP Pro Recliner (Made in Japan)

Osaki OS-4D JP Pro massage chair recliner models span style=”font-weight: 400;”>The Osaki OS-4D JP Pro is manufactured by Fujiiryoki as a private label for Osaki in Japan, and it makes use of the Fujiiryoki technology.

Like every other Fujiiryoki chair and Osaki massage chair, this chair model is known for its admirable build and design.

It has got rollers and airbags of fine quality.

The design ensures that every feature works together in coherence with each other to achieve the most relaxing massage experience.

The special feature of this model is the presence of Kiwami Mecha 4D rollers and airbags that allows you to adjust their levels of intensity.

Heating is provided in the feet and lumbar area.

Pros

  • This Osaki OS-4D offers heat therapy, unlike the conventional Fujiiryoki massage chairs models.
  • It is created with great engineering prowess and is of fine quality.
  • The Osaki OS-4D offers you very relaxing massage programs.
  • This massage chair is equipped with Kiwami Mecha 4D rollers.

Cons

  • The chair does not have a foot roller
  • The stretch massage program may seem outdated.
  • Although this massage model initially claimed to accommodate people up to 6’ tall, it really works best for heights up to 5’8”.

.

#8 Infinity Iyashi Shiatsu

Infinity Iyashi Zero-Gravity Massage Chair Model The Infinity Iyashi has got some rather intriguing features that earn it a solid spot in the list of the best zero gravity massage chairs.

It offers features like the Thai stretch program, posture corrective massages, foot rollers, and Bluetooth speakers that are available with it.

But, one of the standout features of this model is its 49-inch L-track which happens to be the longest on the market.

It also provides heat in the lumbar region. This model is also a wall hanger chair and pretty space-efficient requiring only 1 inch from the wall to function.

It was launched almost more than 5 years ago but can put up a tough competition for even recent massage chairs with some of its features.

Pros

  • The 49-inch L-track rail system works efficiently for taller people
  • The Thai stretch and posture correction is an innovative and unique massage automatic program offered by this chair
  • Heating for the lumbar region and foot rollers are also available in this model
  • Bluetooth speakers are available with this model

Cons

  • It uses 2D rollers instead of 3D or 4D ones.
  • The price can be a bit on the steeper side for a model that uses 2D rollers.

.

#9 OHCO M.8 Chair (New addition in 2020)

OHCO M.8

This brand new model OHCO M.8 takes this industry to a new level of quality & innovation, but it comes with a hefty price tag. This chair is Japanese-made. It’s designed by Ken Okuyama – a famous Ferrari designer. It is an attractive chair with one of the best designs I come across. You will undoubtfully fall in love with it because it is so visually appealing.

First introduced at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in 2019.

It offers innovative features this industry has never seen before. Features such as aromatherapy, side door-like entry, air ionizer, neck pillow rollers, heated rollers, calf rollers, and thera-elliptical calf kneading, and tapping. Add that to a regular premium feature-set you’d expect in a high-quality massage chair such as BlueTooth, 3D L-track roller mechanism (MaxTrack), foot rollers, and zero gravity.

MaxTrack Roller Track – OHCO has introduced a versatile roller track, which is a modification of the traditional L-track. This makes it the only track in the industry where rollers go all the way down to your glutes (piriformis muscles and gluteals) but still allows almost a full recline.

Pros

  • The most innovative feature set
  • Side Door Entrance (great for older population)
  • Designed/Engineered in Japan and the USA (read-quality)

Cons

  • 3-year parts/labor in-home warranty (could be better considering the cost)
  • Price(low priced as $10000+)

.

The Best Rated Massage Chairs For Petite Users

I have sorted and put together a list of a few really good massage chairs that will be suitable for anyone with a petite body frame up to 5’6” in height. Let’s browse through them quickly.

Luraco Technologies iRobotics 7

Along with being the top most rated zero gravity chair in my review, the Luraco Technologies iRobotics 7 is also the best-rated massage chair for people with a petite body frame.

This model facilitates a minimal user height up to 4’7” with great body scanning features and quality massage experiences for everyone.

Inada DreamWave

The Inada DreamWave is perfectly suited to accommodate petite people Its “Youth Program” is specifically designed to provide quality massages to smaller body frames. Children over 14 years of age can use it. It accommodates a height of up to 6’5”; people over 6’ tall can easily use this model.

Panasonic EP30007

Panasonic EP30007 recliner brandThe Panasonic EP30007 is another model suited for shorter people.

Although it does not work better for people over 6’ in height, it can easily accommodate someone as petite as 4’6”.

It is reasonably priced but lacks the zero gravity feature like the Inada DreamWave.

It does, however, provide stronger roller massage but without heat treatment.

Infinity IT-8500

It is affordable, which easily accommodates and provides a standard massage experience for people not shorter than 4’11” in height.

The Top Massage Chair Models If You are Heavy and Tall

It often happens that the best massage chairs fail to accommodate people who are more than 6’ in height or are heavily built.

If you’re on the heavier and taller end of the anatomical spectrum, then these massage chairs are the ones for you.

Human Touch Novo XT

The Human Touch Novo XT is just perfect for providing quality massage experiences to very tall and heavy people.

This model holds a limit of 6’9” for maximum height, which is the highest on the market and can accommodate a maximum weight of 300 pounds.

This is a great massage recliner with advanced features that you should really check out for all the right reasons.

IRoboticsLuraco Technologies iRobotics 7

Although it did make an appearance at the “massage chairs for the petite frame,” it is also the only model that is used in the US military bases for soldiers’ recovery purposes.

This means it is a model that is designed for military physique and it holds a height limit of 6’7” and accommodates a maximum weight of 300 pounds.

These are the manufacturer’s limits for height and weight.

Inada DreamWave Chair Recliner

inada sogno dreamwave massage chair brandThe Inada Sogno DreamWave has the exceptional feature of the DreamWave function that is exclusive to the model alone.

It is designed to provide massages to smaller body frames and has been listed in that category.

But, this model can also efficiently accommodate a height of up to 6’5” and a maximum weight of 295 pounds.

The manual for this model also states that if you can fit in any of the DreamWave, then you can easily use this model without worries.

Infinity Iyashi

The Infinity Iyashi is a finely engineered zero gravity recliner that provides luxurious massage therapies.

This model can also hold a maximum weight of 285 pounds along with a maximum height of 6’6”.

If you’re heavier than this weight limit or up to 350 pounds, then the Infinity IT-9800 would be a better choice for you.

Infinity IT-9800Infinity IT-9800

This is a cheaper model than the Infinity Iyashi and lacks the feet and arm massage functions.

It doesn’t have speakers and Bluetooth connectivity like the Iyashi.

But this model does have calf muscle rollers and the heat massage option which are two of the most essential features of any massage chair.

This model accommodates a maximum height of 6’7”.

A Few More Massage Chair Brands And Models to Consider

The Fujiiryoki EC-3800 is an exclusively Japan-made massage chair, and this happens to be the most popular brand in Japan.

The chair comes equipped with the revolutionary Kiwami Mecha 4D to knead ball system that controls the timing and speed of every other 3D movement to actually replicate the movements of the human hands.

Fujiiryoki EC-3800 (Dr. Fuji Cyber-Relax) Model

Fujiiryoki EC-3800

This feature is limited to only a few massage chairs from the lineup.

This model has really nice stretch programs and 18 automatic pre-programmed massages.

Well, although this is one of the most expensive massage chairs that I have reviewed so far and also from the top-selling brand in Japan, this is surprisingly enough, not a zero-gravity model.

But, the 4D feature replicates the deep tissue massage more closely than any other model out there, making this an exceptional massage chair for intensive massages.

Pros

  • It has 18 programs to choose from
  • The 4D features replicate the actual massage session experience
  • Made from black leather material and also available in beige

Cons

  • It is a pretty expensive
  • Lacks the zero gravity feature and heat setting
  • There have been customer complaints regarding accommodation problems for people over 6’ in height, even when the chair claims to fit people up to 6’3” tall.

.

Panasonic EP30007

Panasonic Massage Chair

This is a budget-friendly massage chair that provides strong rollers.  It pretty much lacks some advanced features like upper arm and neck massages.

It doesn’t have heat options or 3D rollers. This model is suitable for people with petite body frames as short as 4’6”.

It doesn’t work that well with a height over 6’.  Panasonic is wholly China-made. This is also a non-zero-gravity chair.

The EP3007 Real Pro Ultra, too, lacks the upper arm and neck massage features. The Panasonic EP-1285TL Leather Urban Collection is another popular model that is now outdated but still sells with good deals at the end of year sales.

Pros

  • This is a reasonably priced
  • Works great for smaller frames
  • Provides strong massage

Cons

  • Doesn’t work well for people over 6’ in height
  • Comes only with 2D rollers
  • Lacks heating options and neck or arm massages
  • This is non-zero gravity.

Products, manufactured by brands in China have acquired a good reputation for being long enough on the market.  These include brands like Human Touch or Relaxology, which have been in the business for almost 40 years now.

Also, more recent models of the Kahuna massage chair recliner, uKnead, Cozzia, and Omega have been recognized as reliable brands. Also, the Ogawa Active model from the Ogawa Brand is some reasonably priced mid-range robotic massage chairs that you can check out.

The Human Touch Ijoy Active is also a great model if you’re on a tight budget.

Relaxzen 60-425111 or Flash Furniture BT-7600P are entry-level ottoman-style recliners that can be used in the office as well.

Also, certain other massage chairs may turn out really good at a friendly budget while a few others won’t. These include massage chairs such as WholeBody 7, WholeBody 5, Zerog 5, AcuTouch, InstaShiatsu, BestMassage 06C (EC-06C), and iJoy2580.

Do I Need a Massage Chair?

Nowadays, modern human life has been reduced to a base mechanical existence.

The modern man is busy making money for a healthy lifestyle instead of actually living his life.

He sits hunched at his desk all day long and gets straight to his couch and TV set once he returns from work.

And all of this combined takes a tremendous toll on our health. With a sedentary lifestyle and outlook, we invite a lot of health complications in our systems.

Blood circulation and blood flow is the first thing that gets compromised causing toxic wastes to settle in our bodies.

Do I Need zero gravity reclinerSince these toxins fail to find an outlet due to indolent lifestyle approaches, they accumulate in different parts of our body worsening the issues over time.

Also, the faculty positions that we force our bodies to remain in all day cause chronic aches to develop over time in different parts of our bodies.

Unless you have the advantage of time and finance to take regular massage therapies from a real masseuse or a chiropractor, or a partner who would devotedly cater to this need, getting a massage chair would always be worth the investment.

Isn’t It a Lot to Pay for a Best Zero Gravity Massage Chair?

If you think about it, the amount of money and time invested in getting regular massages from a real masseuse or a chiropractor could potentially get more expensive than buying a chair.

Of course, there can be an expensive price ticket attached to these, but for the numerous health benefits that they can provide, the purpose should be worth the investment.

Even just 15 to 20 minutes of massage daily can greatly contribute to much better sleep, a sense of well-being, and improved mental focus.

A good massage chair, having all the essential features, can give you an intensive and luxurious massage experience.

Deep tissue massages and stretches help relax stiff muscles and nagging aches while heat therapies and zero gravity experiences can repair irregular sleeping patterns and chronic pain.

These messages can even be extremely helpful in fighting depression and hormonal issues.

These can tap the energy of traditional massages into your system, reducing tension and stress and facilitating detoxification and blood purification.

What Most Important Features to Consider When Buying a Massage Chair?

A hefty price on a massage chair doesn’t necessarily mean it has got all the advanced and important features.  It takes patience and research to find a product that fulfills the basic requirements.

Some of the important features that you do need to look out for are listed below:

  1. Heat Therapy and Heat Settings

Heating in massages is one of the most important elements that tap the effects of the massage into the body and accelerates its beneficial reactions.

Heat Therapy and Heat Settings

Heat therapy relaxes an aching body and relaxes any tensed-up or stiff muscle.

Also, do consider checking out if there are adjustable settings with built-in heating features.

The last thing you want would want to have is an overheating problem with the machine or end up burning your backside.

Although the lack of this feature doesn’t have to be a deal-breaker, yet, I would personally prefer a massage chair with a heat setting.

Even if they provide heat to only the lumbar region, like some of these massage chairs do, it is worth a good shot.

  1. Zero Gravity

The Zero-gravity feature is the most desired, of practically all other advanced features.

It has every reason to be so, especially since it’s the most relaxing of all massages, giving you a weightless “floating in space” experience.

At this position, you achieve a near-to-perfect even bodyweight distribution.

It especially benefits any lower body aches or pains.

In full body zero gravity shiatsu massage chairs, you can get 30 degrees upward tilt of the seat and 120 degrees inclination between the buttocks and back.

Zero Gravity SystemOther non-zero gravity recliners may have strong L-track rollers providing massages down to your glutes, which you can always go for.

Or, you can also select a combination of both in a single massage chair for a few extra bucks.

  1. Number of Air Cells

Air cells and airbags massage different parts of the body (air massage) by inflating and deflating.

The air cells inflate to apply stress to different tissues and muscles in the body and release pressure by deflation.

It works on the principle of a blood pressure measuring device.

The more the number of airbags, the better will be the massage.

Certain massage chairs have 2-3 layers of air cells that can provide a deeper intense pressure on various pressure points for greater massage.

These usually can be controlled and adjusted with different pressure settings available with the system.

  1. Body Scan Technology

The quality of a massage that a massage chair offers depends on how well it can locate the pressure points and troubled areas of your body.

It should also know to adjust to the build and composition of your body structure to provide thorough massages.

Otherwise, it may locate the wrong spots and cause additional problems.

Body Scan TechnologiesAlso, a chair should be designed to accommodate a standard height and weight index so that all of your limbs can properly adjust and fit to receive the respective massages made for them.

Many Japanese brands often design massage chairs to fit the frame of the native people which does not always work for others.

  1. Size and Space Efficiency

No matter where you are planning to place your chair, one of the determining factors will be the size and space it will take up.

Robotic types are bulky in general but then again some of these can be really spaced efficiently as well.

If you have limited space, go for the wall-hangers that are designed to operate efficiently in small spaces and can be pushed up really close to the wall.

These are suitable for smaller apartments while you can get standard ones for any other space.

  1. Noise Reduction Technology

After getting through countless reviews and tests I realized that certain full-body massage chairs can be really noisy owing to all those motors and pumps that run simultaneously when you start it up.

But models such as the Luraco iRobotics 7 employ exceptional noise reduction technology that makes it the quietest massage chair out there on the market.

Also, the Inada DreamWave is another such model that has got an excellent noise reduction protocol among several others.

  1. Ease of Setting Up and Assembling

Setting up these massage chairs isn’t much of a hassle if you follow the instructions. Also, getting white glove delivery is another reasonable option.

Some massage chair models such as iRobotics 7 are easy to set up and require no professional help.

While some are also sold fully assembled, although you do have to check if these fit through your door frame.

  1. S-Track Vs. L-Track

The rollers in massage chairs are attached to a rail in the back. This is what is known as the ‘track.’

Since the shape of the spine somewhat resembles the letter ‘S,’ the S-track has been created to repeat this curve of our spine providing massage along with it.

The L track, on the other hand, is longer than the S-track and provides an extended massage down to your glutes forming an ‘L’ shaped curve.

S-track Vs L-trackIf you are taller in height and have trouble with your glutes then selecting an L-track can be a more beneficial option than an S-track.

L-tracks can be as long as 49 inches whereas S-tracks usually fall and measure between 28 to 31 inches.

L-tracks usually offer more intensive massages than S-tracks, down to your glutes and thighs.

But, it is only available in a limited number of models which may lack some of the other important features.

  1. 2D, 3D, and 4D Rollers

The very first rollers were the 2D rollers that could move only up and down and left and right.

The Japanese brand Fujiiryoki introduced the first 3D rollers which could also move forward and backward mimicking a masseuse’s hand that could apply and retract pressure from different areas.

3D rollers are always better than 2D ones, and only a few massage models possess these rollers in the feet and quad areas.

It is always stronger than any airbag or air cell massage and is greatly beneficial for treating chronic aches.

Now, you might be thinking about how exactly are 4D rollers upgraded from 3D ones.

Let me tell you that 4D rollers score above 3D ones just because they allow you to control the rollers’ speed.

So, basically, 4D rollers are nothing more than 3D rollers with a number of speed adjustment settings, and they are often stated as a marketing gimmick.

This is why I can confidently affirm that in most cases, a normal 3D roller massage chair is all that you’ll need.

  1. Budget and Warranty

I understand the dilemma that comes with a higher price tag.

But, it’s a fact that some of these top-rated massage models in my reviews are painfully expensive to most people.

You wouldn’t want to make a hasty decision of buying something that won’t be worth the kind of investment.

Budget and WarrantyA good quality chair with limited features is always better than something with a bunch of features that you don’t really need.

You can also consider saving up for an excellent option.

Also, consider important factors such as the warranty period that comes with the model should be reviewed and considered.

Although some top-of-the-line model is really expensive, they can provide great features and quality materials.

And the warranty period for these is long enough to be able to totally compensate for any loss or damage to parts or labor.

On the other hand, you may not get the same assurance from lesser-known brands in the instance of any unforeseeable events.

This can lead to an additional loss of money, which will defeat the purpose of settling for a cheaper model in the first place.

Brands To Consider

With everything now being extensively discussed and presented, I have one last category that shows the top brands in the field of top massage chairs that you should definitely be aware of.

Luraco

This is one of the most reliable brands that’s manufactured and assembled in the U.S.A. Luraco Technologies came out over a decade ago and had been delivering quality robotic massage chairs. It outperforms pretty much all other brands in back-to-back reviews.

The iRobotics 7 from the brand has been reviewed as the top-rated model for this list.

This Luraco model provides one of the top zero-gravity experiences and comes with customizing massage settings.

It also employs exceptional noise reduction technology. It is both UL and FDA-approved.

The only major drawback to this is that it’s very expensive. Apart from this, it’s almost the perfect massage chair there is.

Inada

Inada launched the Inada Sogno DreamWave way back in 2007.

Inada brand LogoAfter the model received a few minor software updates in 2012, it was renamed the Inada Dreamwave and has been successful in business since.

Though the model may seem outdated when compared to its latest contemporaries, it scores over them with the DreamWave function that is exclusive to this model.

It also offers 3D quad massage rollers which allow you to adjust its speed settings like 4D rollers.

This model is designed and assembled in Japan and makes use of a few China-made parts, but is reliable.

Human Touch Brand

human touch ijoy logoThe Human Touch is a brand that has been in the business for almost 35 years.

It has enough experience and reputation when it comes to manufacturing and marketing quality massage chairs.

The brand is constantly opening up new arenas in the field of massage technology which is witnessed in each of their products.

The Human Touch Novo-XT has been rated as the next best chair in the market that comes from the USA too.

This is a space-efficient model with features like rocking and full immersion out of 30 others. It also offers a warranty period of 5 years on labor.

Osaki/Titan Brand

The Osaki or Titan are leading co-brands in the field of robotic massage chairs and other fitness equipment.

They have been in the business long enough to earn themselves a solid spot for their innovative design and standard quality features.

Osaki brand LogoThe massage chairs for this lineup come equipped with excellent quality massage rollerblades and airbags to provide you with an intensive and lush massage experience.

These also offer vibration massages and amazing shiatsu massages.

The brand has been one of the most popular and reliable for people all over the globe.

And with a price tag below the national retail price, it has been able to attract customers for all these years successfully.

Fujiiryoki Brand

A pioneer in manufacturing massage chairs, Fujiiryoki has been known to be one of the top brands in Japan since 1954.

It started out as a beauty and health-oriented manufacturer and in 1954 became the first brand in the world to mass-produce massage chairs.

It employs innovative and advanced engineering for its product designs and has suitably won several awards for the same reason.

Logo FujiiryokiThe massage chairs come equipped with 4D Kiwami Mecha massage rollers that can replicate real hand movements while providing massages

But, unfortunately, this isn’t a zero-gravity model and is also pretty expensive for most.

Some Not-So-Good Brands

There are some brands that I do not personally recommend.

This is because various factors question the reliability of these brands and their products.

I do not currently recommend the Fujita.

They are a California-based brand but use models made in China.

The customer reviews have not been positive regarding their products. Also, their website is not well managed for acquiring information.

Another such brand is the Schultz ZycraPulse Lounge which makes only one model but doesn’t state its manufacturing location.

Their website doesn’t have additional information regarding its items.

The reviews for this brand have no credible source, and the price for these massage chairs is way out there (too high).

Some companies like BestMassage, Ideal Massage Shiatsu chair, Real Relax, Comfort Products, Relaxonchair (MK-ii plus), Forever Rest, Relaxzen, and TruMedic can lure you to purchase their products by putting up attractive price stickers.

What Features Are Most Important For You Personally in Massage Chair?

For some, features such as firm neck massage or inbuilt music systems you may score a lot over other attributes.

People prefer and desire different things and features.

3D RollersI personally look for certain basic and essential features so I can get an electric massage chair for myself.

For me, this includes the heating feature with adjustable settings that will help me relax my mind and unwind.

I would generally prefer standard 3D massage rollers to 2D ones or expensive 4D ones (which just marketing jargon).

These would be more than enough for me to enjoy a quality massage experience.

After countless reviews, I would prefer an L-track massage system to an S-track for my lower back and glutes.

Although a budget is a crucial factor in this case, the feature that I really love is the zero-gravity massage for achieving maximum relaxation.

Hey, also I want to feel like a lost astronaut floating through space.

Massage Techniques Types

Massage chairs often offer various massage techniques.

  • Kneading Massage Techniques – Rollers perform to make a circular motion pattern. Airbags can be used to mimic this massage technique
  • Gripping Massage Techniques–airbags are used to grip legs and arms and release them. The airbags’ alternate deflation  and inflation-deflation
  • Rolling types of massage – Rollers can move sideways and up and down your back. Some models use a combination of rollers and  airbags
  • Tapping types of massage – Action simulates the chopping technique of a professional masseur. This massage technique can be performed by deflating and inflating and deflating airbags.
  • Shiatsu Massage Techniques Type– The rollers push against certain pressure. This will provide relaxation and relieve tension as well

What’s the Difference Between 3D and 4D Massage Chair?

3D and 4D massages are similar and often used interchangeably, but what exactly are the differences? Many people confuse 3D with 4D massage, even though 3D massage is actually a type of hybrid massage technique that blends deep tissue pressure with mechanical muscle contractions. For the record, 2D massage is the original type of massage. If you’ve ever used a traditional massage chair before, then you might be surprised to hear that there’s an entire field of science that falls under the umbrella of massage chair research.

Massage chairs, by their very nature, are meant to take your muscles and joints through the full range of motions, meaning they can help you relax and improve your muscle tone, tone, and flexibility. But there’s also a whole other spectrum of massage chairs on the market, and it’s one that’s growing faster than any other massage chair-related science. In the business of improving your body’s range of motion, they call this the “therapeutic massage chair”.

What are the Disadvantages of a Massage Chair?

While a massage chair can offer quality comfort and relaxation, it is important to note that you will have to be committed to this type of workout. Remember to always turn your chair on and put it in a low position so that your clients do not get concerned. Most people get uncomfortable after just a couple of minutes and find it difficult to remain active. The chair will also need a little more attention to maintain its position. It is very easy for the seat to shift and it will not perform its best, resulting in you losing many clients.

It is important to keep in mind that you will need to purchase a new massage chair on a regular basis. This might make it a little expensive and may also lead to you purchasing other ones just to make up the difference. How Do I Find the Best Massage Chair for My Office? If you are seeking to choose the best massage chair for your office, it is important to have an idea of the needs of your clients.

How Long Will a Massage Chair Last?

Manufacturers recommend 10,000–30,000 cycles. This will allow the machine to maintain or regain its full functionality and extend its useful life. Should the chair require servicing, the first place to check is for any warranty.” –Charles R. Miller, president of Centurion Care, LLC. The material used in the wood and all-vinyl construction should resist staining and dents. The quality of the manual, foot pedal and seat mechanisms should be reliable.

The hydraulics should function as designed and should have a range of adjustments. I recommend taking the chair for an oil and sealer to prevent the build-up of debris inside the tubes. The seating material should be hard-wearing and cushioning should be good.

Which is Better 3D or 4D Massage Chair?

Determining whether a 3D or 4D massage chair is better depends on various factors, including your specific massage preferences, budget, and intended usage. Both types offer unique features and benefits that cater to different needs.

3D massage chairs, which are prevalent in the majority of massage chairs available today, provide a more profound and thorough massage experience compared to traditional 2D chairs. These chairs utilize rollers capable of protruding further out from their massage track, enabling them to penetrate deeper into muscles, particularly in the shoulders and back. The added depth makes the massage more intense and effective at targeting specific areas of tension. Additionally, 3D chairs often offer adjustable intensity settings, allowing users to customize their massage experience according to their preferences. While 3D chairs are generally more expensive than their 2D counterparts, they offer enhanced functionality and value for users seeking a more intense massage experience.

On the other hand, 4D massage chairs represent the latest innovation in massage chair technology, offering an even more advanced and customizable massage experience. These chairs feature rollers capable of not only moving in multiple directions but also adjusting their speed automatically during the massage. This added dimension of control allows for a more dynamic and precise massage that closely mimics the techniques used by professional massage therapists. While 4D chairs typically come with a higher price tag compared to 3D models, they offer unparalleled versatility and customization options for users seeking the ultimate massage experience.

Ultimately, the decision between a 3D and 4D massage chair depends on your individual preferences and budget. If you prioritize affordability and are satisfied with a deep tissue massage, a 3D chair may suffice. However, if you seek the highest level of customization and are willing to invest in an advanced massage experience, a 4D chair may be worth considering. Regardless of your choice, both types of massage chairs can provide exceptional relaxation and therapeutic benefits for years to come.

Verdict

I understand that finding the perfect massage chair (even after reading all of the reviews) can still be a really daunting task.

More often than not, people settle for way less than what they deserve for the kind of money they pay seems to be a good system.

Factors such as a budget and the warranty period on these massage chairs should play an important role in deciding what model you end up with.

Also, having a clear view of the exact features you want in your chair can make such a decision easier.

Although the top models such as the Luraco iRobotics 7 are expensive, it does indeed offer an exceptional range of quality features along with a considerable warranty period that ensures the investment you make for it will pay itself off in health, money, and longevity.

So, it is a good idea to take your time researching while making such a significant long-term decision, but be sure at this stage it is going to be hard to come by any other good model outside of what I already discussed. For cheaper alternatives, check out massage cushion and heating pad options.

I hope that this review was helpful to you and you are on your way to picking the best massage chair just for your home or office.
